charity adventures

Our charity adventures are specifically designed for cyclists seeking a challenge in order to raise money for a cause close to their hearts. In these events, each participant pledges to raise an agreed minimum amount of money for a charity of their choice, to partake in a demanding and gruelling ride.

We run our charity adventures for both large organisations as well single-entry participants.

How does it work?

For organisations

We offer two options:

1. Choose an existing adventure – Have a look at our website and contact us to discuss your chosen adventure. We’ll be happy to answer any questions you have about the challenge and get you ready for it.

2. Build your own – If our readymade challenges are not quite what you’re looking for, then get in touch. Our team is blessed with rich local knowledge and expertise and, together with your ideal requirements, we’d be happy to build your very own personal challenge.

Regardless of which option you choose, we will need to know an estimate of participants and your preferred date(s), so that we can provide you with a per person price. A deposit will be required to secure the date, but we can work with you to work out a payment plan for your participants, and full options will be discussed at the time of booking.

Once everything’s been confirmed we can help you advertise your adventure and provide you with tips to gain the most possible sponsorship.

For individuals or small groups

If you’re an individual or small group, we recommend joining one of our Open Group Charity Adventures.

These are adventures that run on set dates throughout the year; anyone can join to raise money for any cause they like. Just choose the adventure and date, pay the fee and turn up. You’re responsible for raising and collecting funds and then you simply pass the money on to the charity of your choice. We can supply you with sponsorship forms if you need them.

Considerations when contemplating a charity adventure

Which adventure?

Be sure it’s achievable; we provide as much detail as possible for all our events, including the GPX file. If you feel something’s missing then get in touch and we’d be more than happy to help.

How can I fund my adventure?

There are two main options:

1. Self-funded; meaning you fund the entire trip yourself. There is an initial deposit* and the final balance is due 30 days before you depart. Payment plans are available on request.

2. Sponsorship funded; where you pay the initial deposit* and then commit to raising a minimum amount of sponsorship for your chosen charity. The remaining balance for your trip is paid for by the charity with part of your sponsorship fund. You will be asked to complete a pledge form by the charity, setting out target dates and any guidelines required, and we will require a copy of this form. Your minimum target must be met and paid to the charity a minimum of 10 weeks prior to departure. NB, not all charities opt to take part in sponsorship funded challenges.

Which charity?

Most people already have a charity in mind when they come to us. Choosing one that is close to your heart makes fundraising more manageable and keeps motivation high when the going gets tough. But if you don’t have one in mind, then why not see if any of our local causes are right for you.

Once you’ve settled on your charity, contact them to let them know what you’re doing – almost all of them provide fundraising packs and support for you along the way.

*Deposits – once we have received your deposit, we will send you confirmation via email to confirm your place. Our adventures are guaranteed to run, with no cancellations on our end, as we do not have a minimum number of participants per challenge and therefore every trip will go ahead.
